How long have you been e-fedding? Since about 1999. I can't give you the name of my first fed, sorry. So that's...since I was about 14 or so.
How long have you had Mystika? Since 1999.
What was her first gimmick? She started off as a goth, morbid, straight from Hell kinda girl, who focused on world domination and kicking everyone's ass. She wore black, frequently talked about how much she hated people, and even came in contact with Satan a few times in her earlier rps. Major heel, major bitch, completely adorable in my eyes.
How has she changed over the years? Her model has changed quite a bit. I first used some girl whose name I can't recall, but she was goth and a half. Because of her current storyline and lack of any actual photos, I changed the model to Ali, who's roughly the same as Mystika in the physical aspects. As far as her personality, she's become less of a heel and more neutral. She's actually a pretty level-headed woman with a lot on her mind, particularly about her past. The only thing that hasn't changed is her background history and her hair. I love her hair. I want her hair.
Have you ever had any other characters? I've rped before as Molly Holly and Lita, but I always felt a little weird about being someone else. That's why I created Mystika and have become so attached to her.
Mystika and I have become so intertwined over the years. She was so angry and depressing, just like I was when I was younger and she kicked all the ass I ever wanted to. As we both grew up, I calmed down and so did she. No longer was her quest to kill anyone in her path, but to find herself. Being in DU really helped me figure out who Mystika was and what she wanted, as well as making me focus on my goals and dreams.
When I got a boyfriend, so did she. Joel West was the figurative "man of my dreams." Tall, dark, and handsome. And he rarely spoke. All he did was listen to her talk about matches, complain about "bitches," and be her support column. But, like, every 20-something female in a relationship, she wanted to settle down. He didn't. He cheated on her with her colleague (Dee Snuts, that whore) in the boss's office. As my real-life boyfriend and I got closer and more serious, I made the executive decision to make him a part of Mystika's life, too, by introducing his character into her life. Chester P. Qbert McNugget, the creation of an adolescent boy on an old WWF video game one summer, is a bumbling 20-something idiot with a passion for cake and the Teletubbies. The relationship began as professional but quickly became more, since Mystika was the only woman Chester had ever been close to (save his mother). As we play off each other in roleplays and real life, so do Mystika and Chester. Only until recently (for Nuclear Pussy II in January 2005) did they officially begin an "adult relationship," consisting of sex and...well, not being so childish anymore, and now they're currently engaged.
As Mystika gets older and reflects more on her past, the more I find myself adding bits of me and my life into her, or rather, having her experiences influence me. Each win is a big victory for me, and each loss is a huge disappointment. What did I do right? What did I do wrong? More importantly, we're both on a journey of self-discovery, questioning everything in hopes that it will lead to some secret about the past that we've needed all along. She needs closure from all of her losses, I need openings for all of my gains.
We are one, as I see it. Everything I write in roleplays, I find myself saying in real life. Everything I do in character is a reflection of me and who I am. Everything (save for physical appearance. I want to be taller and Mys is 5'7". Works out for me) is the same, from our problems to our boyfriends to our heritage. We are one force, one heart, one mind. And I wouldn't trade her for the world.
